The Parry Sound Area Development Community experienced a modest population growth of 2.96% between 2001 and 2006. This represents a steady recovery from the 1.77% population decline between 1996 and 2001. The decline was largely attributed to youth out migration which has since seen a marked reduction.
The community has a low population density though both urban and rural settings exist. The Town of Parry Sound is the urban center with a higher population density of 436.4 population/km² compared to prominently rural settings of the Municipality of McDougall and Seguin Township.
